Vista Ridge High School Science Fair 2010

Vista Ridge doesn't have the greatest football team, but they probably have the best science fair in the area. Over 300 projects fill the school's library and other rooms to capacity. Judging takes place over a two day period. Many of the projects that are sent to the Austin Regional Science Fair in Austin also make it to the State fair, and some to the national Intel sponsored Science Fair.

Lacy is taking PreAp Physics, Science Research and Design. Her project is "Algal Species and Carbon Sequestration."

Taylor is a sophomore taking Pre-AP Physics and Science Research and Design. She has competed at the Regional Science Fair for 2 years and made it to state each year. Her project is "The Effects of Light on Desynchronosis Using Neurospora Crassa."

These students are seniors. Both students took AP Chemistry last year and they are taking Anatomy and Physiology, AP Environmental, and Science Research and Design. They both plan on majoring in biology next year with the plans on going to med school. Their project is "Inducing Apoptosis in Embryonic Stem Cells by Adding Capsaicin as a Model for Capsaicin's Affect on Cancerous Cells."

Alisha is planning on going to Texas A&M and majoring in biomedical engineering. She is currently taking AP Biology, Health Science Technology and Science Research and Design. Her project is "The Effects of Probiotics in the Digestive System."
